With reference to your letter of the 23rd July last.
I am directed by the Earl of Derby to inform you
of a claim from Mr. William Russell Hodgkins for
impunity sustained by him consequent on the seizure of
the German Brig "St. Pierre" by the Spanish Cruizers off the coast of Cuba.
This claim, amounting to $11,205 and is forwarded by the Officers
rnor.
